ORTS has been organising visits to collections and travel abroad for our members since it was founded in 1977.  These have included textile tours to around 15 countries in Europe and Asia, and behind-the-scenes guided visits to more than fifty private collections, museums, galleries and auction houses in the UK.

Announcements about forthcoming members' visits are made in the monthly ORTS newsletters. Our next visit, to the Burrell Collection in Glasgow, will take place in September 2022.

This long-awaited tour, organised by ORTS members Geoffrey Saba & Sheelagh Killeen in conjunction with Indus Experiences in London, is now planned for November.

Apart from the extraordinary cluster of temples around Angkor, the tour will be focusing on visits to traditional textile workshops including the Golden Silk Preservation Centre. There will also be opportunities to explore traditional wood carving and traditional food, including a visit to ‘Secrets of the Cambodian Kitchen’.

Accommodation is at the 4-star Saem Siem Reap Hotel which has a saltwater swimming pool.

The trip includes an extra day or two in Phnom Penh after Siem Reap, visiting the National Museum.
