Dorothy Armstrong will talk about some of the stories in her recent book, Threads of Empire, where she investigates the role of Asian carpets in global history. They include a controversial misidentified pile rug in the V&A, and a kilim from the distinguished collection of architect Georgie Wolton, recently acquired by the Ashmolean.  She will explore their historical context and the insights they give into now lost worlds.
