Carpet Ride to Khiva a talk by Chris Aslan live from London via Zoom. (Chris Aslan presented a talk on the Silk Road in July 2020 and this is a follow-on lecture.)

People of the Wind a 1976 film about the Bakhtiari migration. Anthony Wynn will preside. To be broadcast from University Women’s Club, London, and by Zoom.

Macau and its Textile Trade with Portugal a talk by Dr Maria João Ferreira live from Lisbon via Zoom.

Picnic at the Horniman Museum and Gardens. Bring your own picnic and meet other ORTS members, and take in a visit to the Horniman Museum’s World Gallery (free entry) which includes a display of Indonesian batiks and other textiles from around the world.

The Horniman Museum is at 100 London Road, Forest Hill. Forest Hill is on the London Overground, 15 minutes from London Bridge by train, and is also served by buses.

From Sarong to Sari a talk by Maria Wronska-Friend possibly live from Australia via Zoom on Rabindranath Tagore’s love of Indonesian batik and support for batik production in West Bengal.

Visit to Lewes, Sussex to view Prof Paul Benjamin’s Collection of SW Persian Rugs and Bags. Restricted numbers, and arrangements likely to be revised.

Visit to Brighton, Sussex to the Brighton Museum to view The Green Collection (Burmese textiles and others) plus an optional visit to the Brighton Pavilion’s recently opened Pavilion Saloon for a curated discussion of the Axminster Carpets. Restricted numbers, and arrangements likely to be revised.

The Society has moved across Mayfair from Piccadilly to the University Women's Club 

in South Audley Square just behind the Dorchester Hotel. Talks start at 7pm. 


Both Green Park and Hyde Park Corner tube stations are a short walk away. Free street parking

after 6.30pm (Tilney St, Stanhope Gate, Hill St, Waverton St, Curzon St, Chesterfield Gardens)


Non-members welcome to attend for £7 a single lecture. Students £5. 

Membership of one year for all events at £30.
